Lagat is actually older than Kipchoge (he graduated 4 years before Kipchoge) so you would think that English in Kenya got better with time rather than worse. Yes, Lagat studied in the US, but from my memory, he always expressed himself the same. It seems weird.
if you take away all the time Lagat has spent in the USA, and it is true that he has always spoken the English word well, then he must just have a higher ability level for that particular skill.
we all spent at least a little bit of time in language classes during middle school, and surely some people were much better at it than others.

Could it be that one has a Bachelor's degree from a U.S. University, and the other has lived in Kenya his Entire life?
