With the exception of NXN his junior year, Simmons has never shown himself to be a candidate for the top XC runner. His speed ratings were consistently in the mid-to-low 190s, and he never really dominated the races he ran. However, he HAS consistently shown himself to be a candidate for the top track runner. He runs in the 8:30s and 8:40s on a regular basis and broke 14:00 indoors. Clearly, he is a different runner on the track (some people are just better at track than XC, even if they are a 5k/10k type). JoJo and Drew have thrown down some fantastic performances this indoor, but I think for now Simmons would have to be the favorite in a track 2-mile or 5k.

Last season Simmons dominated every XC race except for NXN, which clearly deserves a tactical and weather mulligan.
Hard to know what to make of speed ratings before then when he handily won every race.
Simmons just ran an 8:48 3200 at 4500 feet of altitude, on a WOOD track.
Last year he ran 8:53 in the same meet and ended up running 8:34 at Arcadia, as well as a 4:07 at similar altitude.
In a mile, JoJo could take him, but anything 2k or further, and Simmons is going to win.
Simmons trains and lives at Altitude of 4600 ft
he is completely altitude adjusted Simplot was at 4500 ft as well
Simmons does not get that luxury conversion referred to on front page
giving him 13+ secs like alluded to is a joke
Last year he ran 8:53 at altitude, then 8:34 at Arcadia. This is 19 seconds faster. Why is a more conservative estimate "a joke"? This is based in the reality than he ran his fastest 2 mile at low-elevation Arcadia, not the Fantasyland you live in where altitude plays little to no role

Not when he beat the NXN champ by 10 seconds two weeks before NXN?
