Fresh Details from police Detectives and the Strange People who visited World Record Holder Marathoner Kelvin Kiptum's Home reveal a Ksh 45 Million contract ...
Kiptum had the accident at around 11:00 P.M. Sunday night.(East African Time).
At the same time, in West Africa, there was a big continental game happening. It was starting at the same time: 8 P.M. GMT.
Kiptum had just finished watching the Man United, Aston Villa match in Eldoret and was now driving to his home to catch the AFCON final between Nigeria and Cote d'Ivoire who were the hosts.
The explanation going round....and Kiptum"s friend (who was supposed to join them in Eldoret for the.Man U game) confirmed this, is that he was going to watch the game.
Since the game was kicking off at 11 P.M., and he was running late, he sped so as not to miss a lot of action in the opening minutes.
Nobody knows exactly what happened after that but Kosgei, his female passenger said that he started veering off such that that she had to alert him to stay on the road.
Did he sleep? May be. We don't know
Did he hit the accelerator. Instead of the brakes? May be. We don't know.
All we can assume is that given the nature of the impact, the vehicle must have been moving at high speed.
In my view, I think this was just an ordinary accident but then again, we may never fully know.
This is the general narrative of what may have occured.
If the pictures of the car are legit, I would like to know why there isn't any front end damage.
Car looked like it flipped onto its roof. Could have been forced off the road like another car ran them off the road.
The female passenger that survived could be scared to say anything since she knows that she can't be kept safe.
Criminals in these countries do crazy things. Kiptum had just started making very good money and was probably an easy target of any type of organized crime.
In Kenya the cars have steering wheels on the right and they drive on the left side of the road.
That car definitely has damage as if it was side swiped and run off the road and flipped. Looks like the brunt of the impact of the rollover would have been on top of the driver's side.
Not saying this was supposed to be a murder but they were definitely trying to send a message.
Hitting the accelerator instead of the brake is the most impossible of all possibilities
It sounds like the kind of thing someone would say if they'd never actually driven a car themselves.
You just don't do it. Your body is conditioned to automatically hit the right pedal if you've been driving for more than a week.
It’s not binary like that but a matter of probabilities. The probability goes down significantly with driving experience but is still not zero, especially if you panic like when waking up suddenly from a brief spell of falling asleep at the wheel.
The Chinese own most of Africa. Their development of infrastructure and influence exceeds much of what most Americans know. Kiptum did have an issue with the "shoe deal" with China, but the facts seem to show that it was a simple tragic accident. The survivor of the accident would have to be covering up something for fear of retribution and that just seems unlikely.
