Nearly hawked down Luke Houser for the win who split a 3:54.5 and Gary split a 3:51.94 which was just .15 short of the win. Also went from last (5th) to 2nd, impressive race.
3:51.9 sounds like major improvement, whereas 1600m relay split with a running start puts it as roughly comparable with his 3:54 pr. Nice work and it would be great to see the race.

thread title never says it was a full mile, I assumed everyone knew that the final leg of a DMR is a 1600 not a full mile. It was an impressive race all the same
The UVA team (9:18.95) was second to Washington (9:18.81), making those two the #4 and #3 all-time for collegiate indoor DMR. Impressive running for both teams, and Gary Martin almost pulled out the win for UVA.
And according to the top 25 all-time (indoor and outdoor, as listed on Wikipedia), Gary Martin's 3:51.9 is the FASTEST ever closing leg of a DMR, at least of the legs listed from the top 25 performances. So there's that!
