Yeah, I'm surprised more runners don't win by just running 5 seconds faster than all of the best runners in the world. Just solo a 3:26 1500 and you win. I can't believe no one thought of that strategy. Maybe I'll try it next year, look for me in the Olympic final.
You and Malmo can suck it. Underdog Kip Keino won Olympic Gold over heavily favored Jim Ryun by pushing the pace from the start. The strategy worked.
Suck it? Suck what? Kip Keino beat Ryun once? You're saying it was his strategy that ONE TIME that did it? Why didn't the same strategy work for his teammate, Ben Jipcho, who had better PRs than Keino?

It worked. It's the reason Kip Keino is a GOLD medalist and Jim Ryun is a SILVER medalist.
Dude, and 8:21 steeple doesn't make you an expert. You're wrong.

I am an expert, and have stated clearly why you're wrong. You're entire case is, "suck it".
You don't 'solo" a 3:26 1500m. No one does. That's a mark you run being led out for 1000m by a rabbit. This is why you don't see it in Championship races (no rabbits).

Since your the self proclaimed expert. You tell me why Keino is 1500m Gold medalist and Jim Ryun is only a Silver medalist, in an event that some consider him the best ever.
Maybe the delivery comes across a certain way but he's not necessarily wrong is he?
Not everyone is capable of it - and more so mentally than physically. Josh Kerr for example seems like he would be a perfect candidate to lead races and grind the others into the dust with his anaerobic strength and endurance but never does - even in one day meets. And is it an issue of courage? Yeah I think so - in fact I know so. It's not easy now and wasn't in the past either - even for some of history's greatest runners. Just ask Seb Coe who despite being the fastest 800m runner in the world and in history for the best part of 2 decades, left at least one Olympic 800m title on the table because he wasn't confident in taking the race on from the gun.
And I think Jakob knows his limitations. Where does he finish in a championship final that goes through 800m in 2.01 and 1200 in 2.57? I honestly don't think it's a stretch to say that in this scenario he might not even make the podium.
Just so funny to me that a translation get's so many peoples panties in a twist.

I didn't see him front running in the 5k when he won at worlds. But I did see him front running in the 1500 when he lost.
And when he's doing his time trials with pacers, he's happy to sit behind them until the last part of the race.
He won gold pushing the pace in Tokyo, Just him and Tim out front. 3:28 for the win.
It's a winning strategy for him.
He won the 1500m by having Tim rabbit him to 1400m and kicking home. If Tim was patient, Jacob would have another silver… Tim thought he was 2s better than the field. He wasn’t..
