Womens 2 mile at millrose. Looked like the “winner”, Eisa, cut in immediately from the outside effectively giving her a 10m head start in a race she won by 1 second
It was terrible meet management. I am watching with my two sons who are lucky enough to run indoor season as public high school athletes and you could see the DQ coming. So frustrating to see the clueless official correct her but not instruct her. She clearly has never seen that start before. Failure if coaching, meet management, officials. Argh.
Every runner knows that the outside lanes are longer. The only people who don't are children who want to pretend they get an advantage, and nobody will notice.
But there WERE cones at the end of the first turn demarcating where they could cut in. And as someone else noted, there was the yellow line up until the cones.
Either way, this isn't someone who just fell off the turnip truck. This a world class athlete who, while young, should understand such a simple concept as a double waterfall start.
