Nice range indeed and I believe the fact that he secured 2nd place today was even more impressive than the raw time. However, he won't be a medal contender at any of those distances in Paris, sry. Even this (very good) time is almost 2 minutes slower than the world record.
Mo Farah had success on those distances and his pb is slower on hm. Just saying.
Mo Farah never raced any of those super fast spanish half marathons, most of his half marathon outings were well paid training runs against weak fields at the Great North Run. He also ran a similar time (59:32) without carbon plated shoes, which obviously is superior
Even more impressive the range if you add 200m 22.88 (age 16), 48.33 (age 16), 800m 1.45.59 (age 19)…59:23 half marathon. You could also see that he would have won the race if it would have been 100m longer.
No, coached by me from start he had reached this kind of times in an earlier stage avoiding the severe injuries he had hold him back and almost ended his career.

I was just coming on here to post this. I expect him to get under 3:30 and well under 13:00 on the track with this newfound endurance.

Well, it was his very first atempt at the half and he has a 13:02 best at 5000m so far. I really believe alot points to he will be a medal contender in Paris. He has a very fast last lap needed in most truly a tactical final .....🧙🏼♂️🇸🇪
If coached by me,using my own invented Dancan system , for sure today he had ran 58:30 .It`s almost like magic !! - 👋🧙♂️🇸🇪
thank god you're not coaching him. this performance is done on 210 kilometre weeks, he'll be a no-namer on your trash dancan system lol. oh and who did you coach to 58:30 again??
Also shows the Norwegian double threshold efficiency.
Yes, I just had a look at his Strava. Very similar training program to the Norwegians'.
Actually he trains even harder. His easy days are usually 16 + 10 km rather than 10 + 10. Also his treshold days are at a higher volume as the weekend long run (25 k). Been doing 200 k + weeks all winter in Sierra Nevada. In the fall he was road biking due to a foot injury from the Worlds in August. He biked indoors and outdoors for about 100 miles (or 4-6 hours) almost every day ! Coached by Trek Segafredo bike-coach Mattias Reck. He even did an Alpe d'Huez time trial at Swift at 352 watts.
