A double surgery on Achilles and ankle, with today's technology doesn't hurt marathoning ability, only sprinting ability, such as final 400m or final 800m of a 5000m and 10000m race, or 1500m and 800m outright races!!!
Haile Gebrselassie had Achilles surgery and Jos Hermans mentioned that the Achilles injury seemed to have transmutated his sprinting ability into more enhanced endurance ability saying that his 'aerobic ability' was 'better than ever' years after Achilles surgery.
You are the real know-nothing! Rupp should be at minimally Rio olympic marathon bronze standard, the ability to change pace not as sprinting but as surging at marathon pace which isn't fast to begin with, it's only 2:56-3:00 per km down from 3:05-3:10 in championship marathon races, no faster! Besides, Rupp has the benefit of supershoes now doesn't he??? Rupp running 2:14:07 for the marathon cannot be excused by any legitimate reasons except lack of doping!
I can only allow or permit arguments for Rupp's cumulative anthropogenic RF and EMF exposure as a reason for a slowing down but again nothing that a good mix of PEDs can overcome had he continued with Salaazar!
