I think he's being trained by his manager James Templeton....strange move.
Those instagram comments were awful and I hope that was just a bad patch and he sorts it out. He and Bol both fit and pushing each other forward in an OIympic year is an exciting prospect.
If you look at the comments on this IG post - Deng had a jab at Jakob ingrebritson (for no reason as Jakob doesn't run 800m and is a completely different calabre of athlete to Deng) Deng replied to Ricocoetzer09 saying his legs were tired from banging his mother. Real low IQ nonsense that you wouldn't expect from a sponsored athlete.
I also can't see any reference to Adidas Running in Deng's bio or any tags in his recent posts so I guess they may have dropped him too?

Oh my god, I completely forgot that happened. It was definitely unprofessional from an athlete on that level, that’s something a high schooler would say not a world championship athlete.

Looks like he had a shocker tonight in Canberra 1500m 3.43, not as bad as Jye Perrot though 3.49. Apologies if either men fell or have covid.
I don't think 3:43 is terrible for Deng. The guy doesn't run more than 30km per week so 1500 will be a long way for him. He's also wildly inconsistent at the best of times. He's now being coached by Templeton, which is an interesting move. I guess he didn't have a lot of other options in terms of good coaches who could also be bothered dealing with him.
Last year after the social media comments on Instagram Deng made a post a week later saying he was skipping the Diamond League in China and heading home, despite being fit. I was wondering if that was maybe Justin/adidas/AA telling him he can't race until he gets everything together and stops "bringing the sport into disrepute".
Not sure what the story is with Perrot in the 1500, but he ran the 800 the day before in a okayish season opener of 1:47.7. I wouldn't be worried about him yet.

Bol ran 3.34 off the same low volume.
1:47.7 on the fastest track in the world with a personal pacer is terrible for Perrot, and 3.49 is a whole lot worse. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt, and assume he's recently had covid.

Hope Deng doesn't derail Myers.
1:47.7 10 weeks before nationals and 6 months before the European season is fine. I can see him 1:46 low end of Aus season, and that'll put him in a chance for a medal in Adelaide.
Yeah, but up until 2021, the best Bol managed with that low mileage was a 3:42. Last 2 years his 1500 has made a big jump
