Running trails in Berlin

Head over to Grunewald. There is a nice group of folks that run there regularly; find the Trail am Mittwoch group.

Start with the Tiergarten in Central Berlin when you don't have too much time to get away. You can run for a long time without too much repetition and see tourist sites like the Siegessauele, the Brandenburg Gate, the Reichstag.

When you have a little more time, the Grunewald has many miles of trails, including some significant hills, and you can get there easily from central Berlin by S-Bahn S2/S3 to Grunewald station and then run a little ways (going by a track that was often open a few years ago), or a longer way to Wannsee or Nikolasee. It is very shady and so good on a hotter day or later in the day. You can also go swimming in the Grunewald.

Various parks around the city are good for running, such as Treptower Park in the SE and Volkspark Rehberge in Wedding, which is uncrowded and has hills and public statues.
