I'm running my first half marathon in a two weeks and I wanted to get some advice on how best to taper. First off, I believe I made a mistake by doing a workout that amounted to 20k at HM pace (split into segments) this week, I saw similar workouts to this on some plans but I think I may have done it too late and it might hurt my performance. I have also been experiencing some shin splints recently. My peak mileage was around 60mpw and I was going to run that same mileage this week, but I've decided to rest, leaving it at around 45 for this week. I was planning on dropping to ~40 miles next week and around 30 on race week including the race. Does this sound reasonable and would I be hurt by replacing some easy runs with cycling to manage the shin splints?
