This XC season I ran 24:3x for a flat but fair (full) 8k. Last indoor season I ran a 4:12/ low 8:3x mile and 3k, and I believe my mile was as fast as I could go but I left time on the table in the 3k due to poor pacing, but by not more than 10 seconds (fast start, slower than 70 laps for the middle 2000, and then a fast last 800). That season I ran 25:4x in the 8k and some workouts I did were 5 mile tempo in 28:00 (early), 10x1k in 3:20 (mid), and some track ladder workouts at about 4:40 pace.
This season I’ve been running more mileage and feel aerobically stronger. Some workouts I had done were 8x1k in 3:15 (early), 10x1k in 3:10 (mid), 5x XC mile in 4:52 (late), and a couple of track ladders.
I feel far aerobically stronger and also think my leg speed is better. Is shaving 10 seconds off my mile time reasonable? 12?
