I guess kids made big improvements with him but some high school.coaches wouldn't permit it. And he hasn't had any successful college kids. Many seem to fizzle out.

I’ve also heard that but can’t honestly say as I just don’t pay attention enough and won’t start rumors!

I have seen a couple of his athletes post a 40-50 hill repeat workout which is just ridiculous, If you look at Merrick Strava he’s doing a laid back 6-8 hill repeats, pretty easy to see which ones would be burnt out!
What part are you suggesting is rumor? You can check his top athletes to see that none have had great success in college. If you are commenting on the part about high school coaches not wanting their runners to have outside coaching, that is logical because any decent coach has a year round training program that can only be messed up by another coach.
So, what drives this? Overzealous parents with money and living through kids? Snake oil salesmanship? Weak programs where kids and parents have no confidence? Kids just like to workout in the offseason with other kids that motivate and inspire?

It has worked by getting kids to a higher level in high school but it appears at the cost of a successful college career. Mace-Maynard? Lauman? I don't really know who all of the athletes have been but would be curious to see a list of college runners.
