Berihu Aregawi, the world cross country silver medalist and second fastest 10K runner in history, is aiming to break Jacob Kiplimo's San Silvestre Vallecana record.
I'm curious as well...MGC seems like he is on the taller side so he might be a bit large for the 10k, especially compared to the wraith like east africans who normally dominate the event. And he is a 1500 specialist, never seen him run a 5k so the 10k may be beyond his range. I would say if he runs 27;30 or so that would be a very strong result, but then again its a road 10k, anything could happen with super shoes and downhill/super flat courses.
Seems like Aaron las heras is running, odd mike smith is letting him do that, I guess there’s going to be enough time in between hard efforts but still random

Well, he was only 11 sec behind Jakob in xc U20 Euros 2017 (6k), and is also listed 31th in Worlds xc (u20 I guess) so I think the endurance is quite OK…
They should start the race exactly 27 minutes before midnight so the losers don't finish until next year.
Curious what Romo will run in a 10k
Not sure, but those slip on Skechers can’t be good for running. Also, in the nfl broadcast before Christmas, he looked fairly unfit. I’m thinking that dipping under an hour will be a good effort.
Cool they are all racing. I think these are good predictions though I might put Katir at 27:05 and Mario in the 27:25 range. Katir's Road best is only 27:19 from last year, so that would be a nice improvement. He's never shown as much promise at XC/10K as his outstanding 1,500-5,000 track results. He was 5th in the Seville race he got 6th at last year, but 20 seconds off the win behind Kwemoi who is not at Aregawi's level.
