Ran 5:13 in a mile time trial and 2:21 in an 800 time trial for indoor track on separate days. I have a very small team so I ran both of them completely on my own. The mile was definitely not a super hard effort and I think I could’ve been at least 5-10 seconds faster since I had way too much left in me.
I ran these purely off of cross country training, and I’ve literally never worked actual speed in my life, so with some proper middle-distance training, could I drop 10 and 30 seconds by May? I still don’t know how I fare in an actual race
For context, both of these were PRs from last track season, where I ran 5:17 and 2:28. I also ran 18:30 in cross country, which I am notable worse at than track, but still managed a 3 and a half minute improvement from the previous year. I’m also a sophomore, started running last year.
