So I tried to get into the 2024 Chicago Marathon by lottery. Yeah, I know, I should just get in by a qualifying time. Anyway, I did not get it but after getting my rejection note I read in a Chicago newspaper that for 2024 there were over 123,000 applicants vs 86,000 last year.
That is a huge increase (almost 50%).
Boston had 33,000 applications in 2024. Last year 23,000.
Do you think that we are seeing a start of a trend where the big marathons will get more and more difficult to get in as applications sky rocket?
