Will primarily running the 800m indoors help me run a faster 1600m outdoors?
As of now, it appears that I'll be forced to run indoor meets with my team - we have like 10 meets over 2 months lol.
I'm focusing on base, currently building up to 60 mpw with 2 LT/Fartlek type runs.
But I want to improve my raw speed, I only have about 1:02-3 400m speed.
Something I've been doing is strides after all my easy runs as well as doing 1x a week speed development, 4x30m flys along with lower body weight training of 6-8 reps.
Given that I want to improve my speed, would primarily running the 800 be beneficial during indoors?
I don't want to ruin my base, yet given that I may have to run these meets I'm wondering if running the 800 would be better of running the 1600 / 3200.
