Wow. Hope she didn't leave it in training like Ritz often did.

She was doing some impressive workouts leading into her Boston win in a similar way.

Why should anyone believe your assertions? If you have persuasive evidence, give it. Else you get my downvote.

There’s the usual pre-race hype talk and then there is this. I’m all for being wrong here, but, no way she can run 2:11 if on the right course now.

Agree 100%. I respect Ritz a lot and am bullish on her prospects this weekend, but..... If I (random old guy who is likely to win age group in local race) were to say I am sure I could go under 3 again at 4× the age I first did....... you know how you'd respond? You'd say, "Let's see you do it then. What are you waiting for? There are flat, cool races everywhere."

What the hell is "leave it in training"?

Leave her best effort in training. Thought that was obvious.

For those of you that have never run before and are just here for the antivax threads, leaving it in training is having your best effort in training. Subsequently followed by a race with slower or equal times compared to a monster training run. Don’t forget to tip your waitress.

So she basically ran a 2:25 at altitude as a training run. So yeah she is either in 2:11 type shape or she is going too hard. Even if you ignore altitude how fast should you be for this type of run not to be a race effort?

Something like this has been announced many times over the years to have been fake news. Won't believe anything until I see it.

FYI I was a 32 minute 10k runner in the mid-90s and right now I´m coaching two 13-high 5k runners. I know very well what the wimps on LRC means when they say "leave your race in training". They just want an excuse for farting around in wokouts.

This is a workout I did 2 weeks before my 10k PB race: 2x700+4x200 hill+2x1000+4x200 hill+2x1300+4x200 hill - all of it at 3-5k pace. Felt great the day after: did 20k in 74 minutes.

What is Ritz trying to imply here? That his charge is ready to run the WR in 2:10 lol?? I don't think she is running faster than Sifan Hassan's 2:13:44 on a flat Berlin course. But NYC is too hilly. She is not running any WR on it except maybe the CR.

Here's why I think Ritz is talking this big. Because certain workouts are being done at the same pace Stinson did them. Heavily documented on YT, he did relatively flat long runs (not Mags, and just at Boulder elevation, not higher) and it seems to me her time was near his. [I haven't watched that series recently though, so I don't remeber exactly how close the performances were.] He also did the 25k alternator. There's a time given in the video. So Ritz knows what Stinson did for that. There have probably been various other workouts (shorter reps on track, etc.) similar enough that he can compare the two runners. Ritz, Klecker and a lot of guys around Boulder long-term have times for Mags too.

Stinson went on to run very close to exactly 5-flat pace - 2:11 low I think - in Chicago whatever year that was. I'm thinking he may be the most directly comparable. So if she is doing stuff at the same paces as someone else who went on to run in the neighborhood of 2:11 (and/or 10k times that roughly equate to that) then it would be reasonable to suggest that she is in similar shape or close to it. I'd be surprised if Ritz' logic isn't something along these lines.
