Can you please recommend to me the best books and studies (research) to review and read to get a glimpse of the idea behind distance training based on threshold primarily.

If you are a hobby jogger, read the Norwegian thread on here. The user sirpoc84 has provided as good as anything you will find in a book at this point in a very practical way. There's talk he's going on a podcast soon which would be really good. He is on Strava in the let's run crestted Norwegian group, he is very helpful and answers questions.
If you are elite, the bakken stuff is already out there on his website. Good luck 🤞
If you're talking about threshold/Ingebrigtsen training, that comes from Marius Bakken and El G, which both come from Peter/Seb Coe. If you want a real understanding, the best book out there is Peter Coe's book (Better Training for Distance Runners or something like that). Once you understand that, you'll see all the greatest milers trained the same in different ways.
