The Des Linden I know left Hansons because she refused to be on the same team as Ritz because of his previous connection with Alberto Salazar?

Although she does do a podcast with Kara Goucher who also had a connection Salazar so maybe Des has changed her stance?

The interesting part is both Ritz and Kara testified in court against Salazar. Galen Rupp still defends Salazar.

Salazar won the NYC Marathon three times fair and square. He is still the official winner of those races and never cheated.

Pete Rose never cheated as a player. Nike needs to break away from Nike people.

Kara did not outright crucify Rupp in her book, but she did not necessarily paint the best picture of him either (although she was more critical of AlSal's role in what transpired with Rupp, she pointedly accused Rupp of NCAA violations and doping).

Cheating? Is there ANY proof that Salazar cheated as an athlete? Is there any proof that his competitors were NOT cheating? Have any of his NOP athletes ever tested positive for anything?

I agree the guy his super shady, and there is a lot of smoke swirling around AlSal. However, hidden in all that smoke is enough uncertainty that you can't group him with Rosie Ruiz.

IMO AlSal made some big mistakes. I wouldn't want him coaching me, and I wouldn't recomend him as a coach. He's the kinda coach that responsible parents certainly wouldn't hand over their talented teenager to. Would you want him as a father in law? Nope.

The guy had one of the most incredible careers of any american ever. EVER. 3xNYC, Boston, silver at world XC. Demolished Comrades at 80% strength. American records galore. Spitting distance from WR on the tough NYC course. Better marathoner than shorter (faster PR, more big wins). Better marathoner than Rogers (faster PR, better range). Way more sucessful than Prefontaine. The sport needs to grow up and realize that nothing terrible he did erases anything incredible that he did as an athlete. It would be just plain wrong for galen to sit there for 3 hours and never mention that his former coach is an all-time NYC legend.

This alone is going to make me tune in. I can't stand Desi "High Horse" Lindon. Maybe the two of them can trade off commentary so they both get a chance to take their identical levothyroxine.

Has Galen ever commentated before? I remember him being famously impersonal in interviews. Seems an odd choice.

Anonymous surveys after the olympic games have reported more than 50% of athletes ADMIT to using PED's. Less than 1% of PED users ever get caught. The sport is broken and dirty, and I think we all know it. I think the the athletic community loves to make an example of Lance, Salazar etc because it makes us feel like WADA is "working". We are catching the "bad guys". Those guys over there, across the aisle, those are the bad guys. Those are the guys that dope, not us "good guys". We all love to put salazar up on a public pillory with a scarlet letter, and then mindlessly binge this epidemic of unreal, unnatural performances.

i love this. Rupp, not linden. Cautiously optimistic that he will come in very prepared and do a good job.

Congrats. You're a lot quicker. Having said that with all of those credentials, you should not be saying Lindon.
