That's an opinion and not based on fact. There's a very left leaning city councillor in my city who is Jewish. He's not going to say anything anti semitic, obviously.

How does that negate the obvious fact that the Left have becoming increasingly anti-semitic over the last decades? One left-wing Jewish councillor in your city doesn't say anything anti-semitic so that means worldwide, the Left have not become more anti-semitic, including the UK where the leader of the opposition socialist party was booted out for anti-semitism and open support for Hamas? Your 105 IQ on show again.
I think there are 2 types of support and they're very different for Palestine and Ukraine. Ukraine is receiving huge amounts of military and financial aid from the west and so the public protests calling for action aren't that necessary. Meanwhile if you support Palestine the chances are your government are not taking the actions you want to see so there's an impetus for people to take to the streets and call for change. Doesn't seem like any kind of hypocrisy or double standard to me.

Who mentions IQ in a simple discussion and expects to be taken seriously?
What are your thoughts? Why do you think some politicians jump on the Free Palestine bandwagon while saying nothing about Israel?
Nearly every US pol totally supports the genocide of the Gazans by Israel and opposes students who speak out against this massive and blatant crime against humanity.
Why?
It's the easy, safe thing to do. At least that's how they see it.
Hopefully there will be a sea change and the power of The Lobby will come to an end

Politicians are pieces of sh**. Arguing Israel should take a step back and fight hamas more systematically over a longer period is a valid opinion. Just like the US should have done the same after 9/11. Unfortunately antisemitism is accepted so people don’t care that Israelis were slaughtered by terrorists.

I'm thinking like in the immediate days when Ukraine was invaded & before they received any aid, I noticed some rallies to support them, but it seems like the Palestine movement has a lot more support.
Neither the slaughter of innocent Ukrainians or Palestinians is acceptable but it seems there is much more public support/interest in the Palestine cause.
A lot of people who said nothing about Ukraine being invaded are quite vocal about the Palestine cause.
Does that mean they don't care if Ukrainians are killed? Not necessarily, but it does lead me to assume they care much less.
Also - despite the aid Ukraine is receiving - there are mass civilian casualty events practically every day there.
Just looked this up - 8000 Palestinian civillans killed so far and a slightly higher number of Ukrainian civilians since the out break of war.

Because Palestine is under apartheid rule under the Israeli regime.
Ukraine has been under attack since 2014. Entire country invaded nearly 2 years ago.
Not nearly the rallies to support them when Putin is trying to make their culture go extinct.
US overthrew elected govt of Ukraine in 2014 and their appointed govt spent 8 years shelling the pro Russian population of Eastern Ukraine that did not go along with the coup. Russia intervened in 2022.

having a family connection, when the war on ukraine started i poured over everything being published around it obessively. however there werent many people in my world who i could talk to who had much interest beyond the natural human reaction of- thats awful.
there was a rally or two in my city but most of the excitement over that war was contained to the pockets of eastern european communities.
i agree from my lived experience that people around me are heavily invested emotionally in the gaza situation, the same people who have had nothing much to say about ukraine.
my best guess is that the gaza situation has more controversy. there are arguments to vilify both sides and its made it more engaging (because its important for americans to always be fighting other americans over something) than a war with an agreed upon enemy. just my guess.
Because there are 1.9b Muslims in the world and they are united in their hatred of Israel. And because many left wingers around the world have come to see Israel as a symbol of oppression for decades, rightly or wrongly.
Russia just doesn’t elicit the same hatred. Most people dislike them, but the hatred isn’t as visceral.
It’s ironic because the Israel-Palestine conflict is relatively small in the grand scheme of things (for example, 150k killed in Syria in the last 10 years and no one protests). But Israel has always been a lightning rod. Why? Some say antisemitism, some say apartheid. Up to you to decide.
Here’s another interesting question: why is there no support for Armenia, when the Muslim Azerbaijani government is literally forcibly removing 100k from their homes at this very moment? Why does the world only care about “apartheid” and “genocide” when Jews are the purported offenders, but ignores when Muslims do it?
On 19–20 September 2023 Azerbaijan initiated a military offensive in the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh region which ended with the surrender of the self-declared Republic of Artsakh and the disbandment of its armed forces. Prior...
