A Hidden Danger Among Us All

I actually do think of this when I take my three flights of stairs in and out of my condo. I've had a couple of close calls, once where I was working on the top landing and my feels were on the edge of the top step when I felt my balance waver almost sending me backwards down the steps which was far too close for comfort. The other was 10-15 feet away from the concrete pad on the very bottom of the stairs when for some reason, I landed weirdly on one step, kind of a scuff where I landed on my midfoot which almost had me cartwheeling down the stairs.

I now walk very deliberately both up and down the steps with one hand always on the rail. Stairs are no joke, I had a former teammate die when he fell down the stair of his home in an accident.

I fell down a marble staircase once. It was awful. It was the grand entrance to a room and we were going to a party. I had a silk dress on so I slid half of the way down. Was bruised for weeks.

I suppose I was lucky it wasn't worse.
