The overall quality and measurement of musical creativity in the mass market musical business is at a historic low level. To achieve a large public following based on your talent level which may be minimal, takes a marketing campaign that targets an audience that is attracted to banal and generally bland content.

Taylor Swift is optimistic and joyful and her lyrics resonate with young women and girls. She also plays to pop and country music fans alike. It's kind of like Beyonce and how she resonates with millions of people from all backgrounds, too. They are both unicorns in the music industry and American culture in general.

1989 is probably the best pop album of the last 25 years. She is wholesome and for the most part scandal free.

She's the embodiment of what women nowadays wanna be.

Career-successful. Independent. Tall and pretty. Unmarried and childless in her mid-30s. Gargantuan social media following.

Let's not forget charity and hospital appearances off camera, allowing fans on stage, giving her truckers for her concerts a $100k bonus each, starting the fight against Ticketmaster garbage, spearheading the movement against Spotify and giving back to her fans.

She has catchy lyrics, tall/thin, connected to an audience that now has a ton of disposable cash, low levels of competition in the marketplace, great marketing team, ruthless about securing the bag 💼.

Other artists have failed recently because they don’t know how to work the system and lose money every night on tour.

There is also a persistent rumor that she is a beard for Hollywood A/B listers that need to appear straight for some reason. But 🤷🏼‍♂️

She is one of the few modern artists I believe I'd good for my tween daughter s. She has some nice songs, not for me, and she doesn't dress like a slut. She's acceptable for parents.

Likeable "girl next door" that makes relatable music for her fans and seems to genuinely care about them.

She certainly also deserves credit for writing her own lyrics and music. With 15 years behind her she now has a catalog of over 100 songs, close to 50 of which made top 40.

This allows her now already at 33 to give p3formances in the style of Springsteen, stones, billy Joel, Elton etc, relying on a long show of the catalog.

She was also clever to build a social media age relationship with her customers and fans. Unless she screws it up she can go on like this for years with a new tour every 2-3 years.

Exactly this. Whether she is or isn't to your musical taste, to deny her obvious massive talent at writing and performing is pretty dim.

They identify with her and play her roles in their tiktok videos. Swift is also a genius marketer and businessperson who took back control of her music from a record label, re-recorded her own songs, and just had the most lucrative tour in a long time. At 33, she is already worth $1.1 billion.
