Anyone know if Issam Asinga is eligible for indoor track? Was suspended before World meet, but never heard what has happened to his case. I know he protested his suspension.

B sample was positive.
Probably getting ready to flip burgers or go to CC. No reputable college will want him setting foot on their track for awhile.
Well if he admits wrongdoing (pretty much his only path) he will be out 3 years. So, that would be until July 2026. He will turn 22 in December 2026. Not sure if he plans on going to A&M in the meantime, as they obviously won't be providing an athletic scholarship/NIL for a banned athlete.
His instagram bio still says Texas A&M, but as we found out from the Randolph Ross case
I would have to assume he also lost his scholarship seeing as he won't be allowed to compete and he actually tested positive as opposed to whereabouts/tampering. Maybe he's still attending for the education and has other means of paying the fees (financial aid etc.)
But he gets to keep the HS records? BS!
Maybe some, uh, I don't know, journalist, like maybe the owners of this site could ask a few questions of people?
Be pretty shocking if they keep him around. They dont have a 23-24 roster up and their website is the busiest most incomprehensible mish mash I have ever seen.
Does he have any additional appeals pending? If not, this is a terrible look for the school.
HS records are meaningless anyway. We still have doped up world records on the books since the 1980s. These need to be taken care of first. Besides, he didn't test positive when he set the record, the same reason FloJo, Koch, and Kratochvilova still hold records.
Gatorade named him their boys Track and Field athlete of the year! Have they released any sort of statement?
He's at Texas A&M. I am uncertain if he is going run indoors or not.
how would he even be allowed to? he was caught red handed!!
I have no idea. In fact, I thought he would've been ineligible to practice/compete his freshmen year or even somewhat banned. However, I do know for a fact that he is at A&M and has been practicing with the team.
Provisional suspension.
"A Provisional Suspension is when an Athlete or other Person is suspended temporarily from participating in any competition or activity in Athletics prior to a final decision at a hearing conducted under the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules or the Integrity Code of Conduct."
The status of his case is, "Notice of Allegation Issued."
Allegedly, Asinga has come to an agreement whereby he retains his NCAA eligibility until there is a final decision on AIU's case, meaning he is free to train and compete. Thus, it would probably be in his benefit to string this out as long as possible, seeing as whatever ban he gets will be backdated to have started on the date of his positive test, and his NCAA results either way won't be expunged as the NCAA is not WADA/AIU signatory (they don't even give them their test results).
Grace Nwokocha tested positive in Summer 2022 and only officially received her sanction a week ago, so I'd say we can expect Asinga to complete a full NCAA season, and then have his case decided shortly after that, then possibly missing his sophomore and junior years.
interesting stuff. few questions:
1. if he were to be banned, could he still train with the team under NCAA rules?
2. NCAA is not a WADA/AIU signatory but would asinga still be in their out of competition testing pool?
3. asinga is easily the fastest sprinter to enter the NCAA (seriously, has an official sub 10/sub 20 guy ever entered the NCAA?) and is probably a frontrunner to win indoor and outdoor titles. the reaction to a banned/provisionally banned athlete winning titles of such prestige will be overwhelmingly negative, so is there any chance the NCAA puts its foot down and stops this from becoming an issue in the first place?
Embarrassing look for the NCAA and TAMU. He is accused of being an overt cheater. Its bad enough they allow someone like that to train. Surely he can't compete?
Unless he is actually innocent and convinced TAMU of such? Given the allegations though, that seems a long shot.
Ban should backdate to whatever ncaa race he might compete in during the adjudication. WADA should not stand for these kind of shennanigans. What if he breaks a record?
I think if he gets banned then he can't train with any team that has any athletes in the AIU/WADA/etc. testing pool, unsure if this applies to anyone on their team.
Asinga will remain on the AIU testing pool during his suspension and presumably is on the NCAA one too, although I heard they only test for recreational drugs anyways.
No clue about the 3rd Q
