I'll add that they can only compete in invitationals where boys and girls run the same distance, like the standard 3 miles at Woodbridge.

I'm not making this political. The premise that there are transitioned transgender athletes out there is already present in many places. This is a solution to the racing and placing in terms of fairness, regardless of left or right or if someone does or does not agree with transitioning.

Most sanctioned/championship races use gun time (i.e., first across the line). Chip time is used for things like BQ, though.

Of course it won’t. Like it or not, transgender females want to be considered as being female which includes being allowed to compete as one. As has been pointed out, invisible runners will not be welcome in the guys race.

Your right, but this might be a necessary first step. A meet in the middle if you will. If not, then we're back to the chromosome argument and every other argument that produces nothing.

They can compete. They just can't place in their unassigned sex. In the All day 20k (used to be the 25k), one of the races toward completion is the Women's Masters 40+ race. Men could be top 3 and still not place.

That's oversimplifying it. This really is the best solution. It's the same with any race. Take gender and sex out of it. Even if a JV boy runs 14:33, and the Varsity winner runs 14:43, the JV boy is not winning the Varsity race just because their time in JV is faster.

Putting aside the main issue, your solution does not work for either race.
As an example for XC I am going to take one of my transitioned male to female runners and have him run in the female race. The real winner of the race (the girl in second) never gets to break the tape or feel like they won, nor do they know where they stand in the team score.
Then the athlete factors into the scoring of the men’s race without anyone in that race being able to react.

There's a solution to this. Two tapes. A transitioned female must be declared a transitioned female. If a female non-transgender wins, one tape. If the transgender female wins, one tape for winning and one tape for the first biological female. Good planning can solve this.
As far as scoring, they score with the boys score. Placing scores are just relative composites, even if the lowest numerical placement on a female team score is 2, it is still the lowest female, if the transgender female won. They would vacate their 1 for the girls' team
