I think it’s always helpful to listen TO those we talk about.
Good for you. Run against those with a similar condition or “round up” and run with men.
Caster running against females and winning is like the middle school kid who stayed back three years and now “dominates” his classmates in sports. In other words, it means NOTHING.

So where do you put intersex athletes? Be that as it may, Semenya did not beat the best times for either Mu, who would come later or Kratochvilova. An intersex person designated as female does not have the entire sex hormone basis of a male and, as we saw with Semenya, does not have the body to run 1:45 or faster. They have ambiguous genitalia and therefore don't have the female make up in full either. Intersex people would dominate Paralympics because their difference is not a hindrance. During her competition time, Semenya was compliant with rules and testing. The way she was treated was rather disrespectful because she had no bad attitude to her competitors... she just wanted to compete. Moving forward, where do you put an athlete like Semenya?

Semenya was compliant with rules
No, that's not correct. Semenya took advantage of a court case that temporary allowed Semenya to run even though it was AGAINST the rules.
Fortunately, the court eventually came to it's senses and finally allowed the rules to be enforced.
I feel sorry for the biological females who lost medals, prize money, and sponsorship opportunities just because a stupid court temporarily thought it was OK for biological males to compete against biological females.

This is nothing new. Semenya has been famous since 2009 and has had a lot of interviews where Semenya has said that they want to compete against biological females. This article is just more of the same.
Hopefully in a few years, when it's obvious that Semenya is past the age of being able to compete against biological females, then there won't be any more Semenya interviews.

The court said it was okay. I can accept that. That made it legal for the time being.

Semenya says in the NYT article that Semenya doesn't feel the term "intersex" is apt. Many people with DSDs and their families eschew the term as well and wish that others wouldn't use it, albeit for different reasons than Semenya.
Semenya has an enzyme deficiency, 5-ARD2, that occurs in both males and females, but it only affects the sex development of males. Thus Semenya's condition is most accurately described as a disorder/difference of male sex development or DMSD.
Put another way, Semenya has a male-only DSD.
In males fetuses,5-ARD2 specifically impedes normal development of two male sex organs: the penis and the prostate.
As a result, XY 5-ARD2 babies are typically born with malformed, minuscule or missing penises; and with prostates that are under-developed and smaller than usual.
But the testes of XY 5-ARD2 fetuses and develop normally, and they produce normal male levels of testosterone during fetal development and throughout all stages of life. In fact, quite a few people with XY 5-ARD have testes that produce levels of testosterone which are either in the high end of the normal male range or far exceeed it. Some have been found to have T levels more than twice as high as the top end of the normal male range.
However, XY 5-ARD babies are often born with one or both of their testes in an unusual location somewhere other than the scrotum. Sometimes at birth one or both testes are still inside the abdomen near where they originally developed. Other times, one or both testes are partway descended and can be found in the inguinal canal or in folds of skin in the outer groin. (This is not all that unusual evven for males who don't have a DMSD: cryptorchidism is present in 3% of male babies born at full-term, and about one-third of male babies born prematurely.)
Equally important, XY persons with 5-ARD2 also have normal male androgen receptors in good working order. As a result, they go through normal male mini puberty of infancy and male puberty of adolescence. In the process, they acquire the entire range of male-typical physical characteristics that give adolescent and adult males as a group such an enormous advantage over females in sports.
So the claim that Semenya does "does not have the entire sex hormone basis of a male" is hooey.

If the premises were not ambiguous, she would never have been approved of to compete internationally outside of South Africa. Or possibly outside of her city.
Semenya says in the NYT article that Semenya doesn't feel the term "intersex" is apt.
I agree that "intersex" isn't the best term because it misleads people into thinking that Semenya is half female.
But "intersex" is a slight improvement over what the media called Semenya for years which was "female with natural high testosterone" which was total BS.
A more accurate term than "intersex" is "biological male without a penis."

Aside from the sporto and jock perspective, what have scientists in the field of gametes and zygotes and chromosome 45 and 46 said about Semenya's case specifically?

Yes.. genetic engineering > Jockos and sportos.
Yes. I like elete, drip Drop and propel for hydration... scientifically no runner created any of it.

She can run with those who are totally equal to her or she doesn't run...yes, it's really that simple. Everyone doesn't have the right to have everything personally accommodated for them in life...no sir, that's called a "suck it up" example of one and you just move on.

Until court rulings changed, she was doing that . If there's a culpability issue, it's with the courts.

With all due respect...how many of you have seen an actual or even simulated genetic map? I have... and it's very complex...I saw mine in 1991 at Nichols Institute and it was difficult...I couldn't figure it out. I was a Junior in High School in an AP Genetics Honors class. So school me differently.. . what should we have seen obviously for someone DSD 46 XY.
I mean scientifically... not opinion.. what should we have seen?
