How popular were the Zombies?

Let me guess, last year you also found out Nirvana was a band and not just a T-shirt?

they were part of the British Invasion , which the Beatles started. there were many groups that had 1 or 2 hits.....top ten... zombies among them. their unique sound they had was their keyboardist rod argent. she's not there, tell her no, time of the season , their 3 hits, odd thing they broke up , time of the season came out was a big hit , they got back together shortly. argent went formed his own group argent, had a big hit.....hold you head up

I grew up in the '60s and loved the Beatles. They changed everything. The Zombies are one of my top three favorite bands from the mid-60s. Their songs were great with what I would call and understated arrangement...but still rock and roll. I believe Rod recorded some new stuff fairly recently, that sounds good.

The Carlos Santana version of the song She's Not There has one of the top guitar solos of any songs of all time. It is worth a listen.

Great band then and now. My wife and I have seen them in concert many times in the last 10 or so years. Original members Rod Argent(organist) and Colin Blunstone(lead singer) are still at the top of their game. You will be very impressed with them in concert. Enjoy!

Yeah, White Zombie was a pretty awesome band.

More human than human is such a good song.

Zombies is fairly original for a Beatles era band, considering the zombie movies had not even been made yet. Night of the Living Dead was released in 1968.

Or rather, two hits. Namely, "She's Not There" and "Time of the Season." They were moderately popular but struggled to get popular albums/singles outside of the two releases above. Surprised to hear they're still touring, good for them!

Rod Argent (who later founded the band Argent- "Hold Your Head UP") and Colin Blunstone founded the Zombies. They had 2 great hit singles, which others have listed, and their LP Odysey and Oracle (misspelling was in the title!) is still considered one of the great Beatles-era records, and Rolling Stone put it on its list of top 500 LPS of all-time, Well, at #500, to be sure). I love the disc, which is filled with mainly pretty pop songs, in a psychedelic vein.

The Zombies' music has really aged well. Glad to hear they are still touring.

Hey! The Zombies were not very popular here in the states and in fact She’s Not There was a hit after they had broken up.

Odessey And Oracle however is beloved by musicians and this kinda helped keep them relevant over the years and fueled their somewhat recent resurgence in the legacy scene.

Incredible singer, great songwriting, good drummer just lots of stuff to like about them.

I had the good fortune of seeing them live with Love when Arthur Lee was still alive from the thur row or a small theater and it was really great.

Check out the song Rhyme or Reason from Eminem's Marshal Mathers LP 2. It's a mashup of The Zombies song Time of the Season and a rap by Eminem.

In the USA, the Zombies had another big hit with "Tell Her No." It was a Billboard top 10 single. The band's performances of "Tell Her No' on the American TV shows "Shindig" and "Hullabaloo" were "to die for."
