I don't follow BYU either, but occasionally some of their students knock on my door wanting to chat.
When I am faced with the situation of reading about an athlete that I am not familiar with, I turn to a search engine and type in something like Clayton Young. Sometimes they share a name with another person, so I might add more description such as Clayton Young runner, so I don't find myself reading about a hockey player.
I have discovered that he just turned 30 and his half-marathon and marathon times are far superior to his track times. Also, I found out that he won the 2019 NCAA 10000m in what looked like very hot conditions with a last lap which would indicate that he could run a fair bit faster than his World Athletics profile shows his 1500m and mile PBs to be. His ability to perform well there in the heat could serve him well at the trials marathon.
