DAMN just finished watching. SO CLOSE! First mile too slow. 3:59 second mile!! He would've got it with even pace.
By the way no record for Tirunesh either didn't really go for it but won easily with a 30.5 last lap, 2:49 last km. Time was 8:41.
He ran his second mile quicker than his mile race a few weeks back at milrose.
BAck from where? Oh yeah, Madison Square Garden's crap slow track. Lagat's record there looks pretty phenomenal at this point.
Issay taking 3rd atempt...talking to pole...running up...SHE MISSES...No big fat cheque for her today..
Back from not breaking 4min mile couple weeks back.
if my memory is correct he got slated by people on this board saying he hadnt got the pace or isn't as good as Lagat.he is the best there is and the best there ever will be.
how much $ has she made from chipping at the records? Isnt it something like a million USD every time she sets one?
Its a joke alright.she talks to herself before her run up 2.
maybe she is going mad.
$30,000 for every world record I think. Performance of the meet though had to be Bekele. Komen in the 1500 was great too 3:34.
3:59 second mile! That is sick.
link to results?
Isinbayeva must have got more money from Norwich union over the past few years than any british athlete, Im glad she didnt break the world record today, she is taking the piss and taking money out of the sport in the UK
Bekele & Isinbayeva miss records
Bekele left himself with too much to do after a steady first mile
Kenenisa Bekele produced an awesome run but just missed out on breaking Haile Gebrselassie's two-mile world record at the Birmingham Indoor Grand Prix.
The Olympic and world 10,000m champion ran a blistering solo race to clock eight minutes 05:12 seconds - just 0:43 outside Gebrselassie's mark.
bekele will be ready for the competition at the world x-country championships in both the long and short courses. i hope the russians won't field a full x-country team.
Nope, 4:01.xx for last 1600m.

He can barely break 4 in the mile.
2 miles, not 3200
thus a 4:01.19 last 1618 meters
or a sub-3:59 last mile
Using conversion factor of 1.00585, 1st mile was 4:05.36, which makes the second mile 3:59.76. Looks like he closed the last 418.688 meters in 1:00.18, which makes his last 400 about 57.49.
Oops, I wasn't thinking.
