Its just completely pointless when courses vary so much. If you'd run any european cross youd know that races dont have closely measured distances, and when they do they dont come out as round numbers (like theyll just be 8.7km or 6.7 miles or something). Also, if you run on real courses (not golf courses, or trails) then the footing is so different with time of year - the same athlete can start the autumn running 5m/m for a 5mile XC, and by the end of the season they'll be doing 5:45s because theyre running in calf deep mud. XC isnt about time. Shut up and race for position. get to the finish line before your competators. stop constructing your life around being about to talk about your activities afterwards, rather than just doing cool s**t. (no "you" specifically - but thats the rhetoric im want to test drive)
