Intelligence matters here. It used to be for the women and it still is for the steeplechasers BUT I never said it was an Olympic distance.

Yeah that is correct. Jakob might not break the 3000m record but he could have done so in 2023. There is little doubt he could have had it this year. He may still get it but that is not clear now. So even if Jakob gets it he won’t retire with it, although again it is not an Olympic distance so it doesn’t change my premise here. However, the very reason Jakob ran faster than Komen is the very reason someone will run faster than Jakob: the tracks, the footwear and the doping are continuing to produce faster runners. There are relatively mediocre talents who can break the 4 minute mile now. This is a new era.
