I am a not-so-new XC and Track coach (distance) in a public High School. We have had a history of injuries for the past few years which is incredibly frustrating, both for me, and for the team. I recently attended one of the Galloway Running clinics (run-walk method for those who are not familiar with him). Right now I have started the JV runners on this method. While at first I did not believe that you could improve by walking, he was an Olympian and has trained millions of people through his books. Some of my varsity guys have been opposed to this change, but I was thinking about moving them onto the program also. None of the guys are all that talented (our best runner hasn't even broken 5:00) I was wondering if any coaches had any suggestions for me or if I should stick to the literature.
