Nice job, congrats!!
Nice job, congrats!!
Did Wejo just win somebody's truck?
Does this mean Wejo is faster than Paula?
He may of broke 29min but he definitely did not help with pace. He made the frosh from Wisconsin do all the work on his own. Only to outkick him in the last 400M. Not cool.
1) Were you there? If yes then see 2.
2) Are you blind?
Wejo led the chasepack virtually the entire way to catch up to the surging guy from Wisconsin. He caught him with 800m to go and then they traded kicks. It's not Wejo's fault the guy chose to go out all alone.
Nice Job Wejo. This sure as heck proves you are not a wussy. CONGRATS! Tell JB with the truck hello.
Great Race WEJO, this proves you are no "pussy". Keep up the good work with the training and the awesome website. Tell JB with the truck hello. Once again congratulations.
I think the guys who are calling you a pussy should step onto the line next time you race and see who the real pussy is...
Nice Job Wejo. Looks like you are off to a good start -- keep it going.

That's called "racing," in which the main objective is to beat everyone else to the finish line. Team time trials and similar collaborative efforts, although sometimes misleadingly labeled "races," are quite different. My understanding is that this event was billed as a "race."
28:54... a solid performance and good start. The only people that should call it a "pussy" performance are those who have run 28:53 or faster. Culepeppers run was great
but more impressive was Kennedy. 28:01 in his second race is freakin' impressive. Most of us know how hard it is to return to form after time off. Good luck to all those guys as the season goes on. Keep it up.
Good run wejo.
Way to go, Wejo!!! Don't even pay attention to those who called you a pussy-they probaby can't even break 16 for 5k. Sub-29 is awesome. Keep it going.
Excellent run, but I bet my truck you can't break 28.

Well that's the goal in the next race. Most likely Harry Jerome June 7th.
As for being a pussy, it doesn't bother me to be called it. But I'll never apologize for winning a race. And granted I wished I was up with the Wisconsin guy (the rabbit got a bit ahead right before 5k and I thought he was dropping out at 5k. But his teammate ran up to him so he kept oging a few more laps and then when he dropped I was 10-20 meters back and never got any closer till the end).
But it's not like I sat on him the whole way and outkicked him at the end. (Btw when Gebrselassie does this to somehow he's not called a pussy he's called the greatest runner of all time). I was leading the chase group the entire way. One guy tried to come on my shoulder a couple of times and with 4 laps to go an Oklahoma State guy passed me. Immediately, I wondered why he was going so slow, and then I realized it was a bit easier to follow someone, but he got me running a bit faster.
But right when I finished the first thing I heard was "thanks for doing all the work." 2 guys said it to me. I was a bit shocked because I told them, "don't thank me, thank the wisconsin guy". But from their perspective I was doing all the work because I led the 2nd group the entire way. But I told the wisco guy I was sorry I couldn't help him out but I was 20-40 meters back the entire 2nd half of the race. But I'm not going to apologize for beating him. I run first and foremost to compete and winning the race made the run much better in my mind.
Simon is a great kid and a hell of a competitor. He won't care if you beat him in a race, even one where he does all the work. Nice runs by both of you.
I've driven Lester's truck and trust me Wejo, you don't want to win it. :-)
Nice run last night...was that a 60 second last quarter?
That's cause Geb does it on the back of Tergat not 18 year old kids from Canada.
To the poster that calls into question, Wejo's cajones, you are a moron. First, because you write using a nine-year-old's grasp of English, and secondly because your statement is wildly inaccurate. If you were there, and paying attention - which I doubt - you would have noticed that Wejo was way behind Bairu/the leaders for much of the race, and didn't really come into victory contention until perhaps 600m to go. Bairu made a bold move that was probably too early and was overhauled on the last circuit.
I was there (as Belmont University's assist. coach) to cheer on/provide splits (in Swahili, no less!) for William Kemey who ran a (somewhat disappointing) 29:27 in the same race.
Wejo, as I understand, only relatively recently made a competitive comeback after a few months out of action, and this was his first track race. Running 28:55 evenly paced with a great last lap and winning the B section at a meet of this caliber haradly falls into the category of running like a pussy.
Congratulations Wejo. Good luck at the Jerome Classic if that's your next race.
BTW: I will have some (hopefully) decent pics of that race if you want them sent.
No one has mentioned how the weather last night... So how was it?
28:55 for anyones first race back is awesome, and I was stoked to see Bob run his 28:01. He may or may not be an ass, personally don't know the guy but I can respect how difficult it is to come back to competitive running when life just doesn't go your way...even if it is for 2 years.
I’m a D2 female runner. Our coach explicitly told us not to visit LetsRun forums.
Great interview with Steve Cram - says Jakob has no chance of WRs this year
