His new goal is a sub 2:45 marathon. He's run a 4:53 @ 194 lbs and 2:48 marathon at an incredibly heavy weight for a distance runner. I can't help but wonder how much faster he could be if he were 150 lbs. Any thoughts?
Is a 2:15 marathon possible if he lost 40 lbs? (assuming he's 190lb now)

And even if we bypass the anti-doping concerns others have raised, he has to lose that 40-ish lbs in how much time? And then after training through that, he'd still need maybe two years training around the new low weight? Too much to speculate on.
Can he get 2:45 now? I wouldn't be surprised, but I'm not sure what he's on.
Clean and lean below 160, he wouldn't have a ton of trouble with 2:45, I'd expect. 2:15? Not even close, I suspect.

You can't just drop that much weight and expect to collect the prize. I did lose "only" 25 pounds, however the loss in muscle mass, training at a calorie deficit as well as the increased speed in training due to being lighter gave me a range of injuries.
I don't think that's true - I watched the video (not sure why...) and it was on some random road; the claim that it was a mile is, as I understood it, based on Strava. It looked flat but also not sure if there was an elevation drop. A track would have had so much more credibility - as it is I'm not even convinced he would have been able to break 5 on a track.
Overall I can't believe I wasted the mental space on this.
