Just watching highlights of Anna Hall at Worlds. It’s pretty amazing that one person can become very good in seven or 10 events. How are these athletes developed? Are they specializing in decathlon or heptathlon in high school? Or do they figure it out later on?
Just a wild guess, I bet most colleges can’t afford coaches or facilities to help decathletes or heptathletes. This must make it even harder for these athletes to develop into world class professionals. Yet, the USA always seems to have people at the top of these events. How does that work?
