Classic!
Patrick Hoffman had a list on his site. This probably hasn't been updated in about 5 years, but you could probably get the last 5 yrs worth off the dyestat lists...

Can you really be considered a "distance god" if 200 other people have done it. Maybe the list should be changed to sub 8:50, that cuts it down to 30 or so guys ever. Now that impresses me.
Yeah youre right being one of the 200 fastest HS two milers ever is not that impressive at all. Id like to know what youre one of the best 200 ever at.
Well, you're clearly not one of the best English students.

How many of that top 30 never did squat afterwards? That's not that impressive is it?

I don't know what you consider "doing squat" but Brent Steiner was the FIRST footlocker H.S. Champion. And he also happens to be a multiple world and national duathlon championship, and a really nice guy. Not to mention he went about 8:26 or so in college for 3k.. not too shabby.

8:26 for 3K is slower than his high school time. Whats a duathlon?

He was a D1 All-American at KU.
Also, I have the complete & current up to date sub 9 list at Home. However, I posted it on here a while back. You might run a search on it.
8:26 3k is roughly equal to 9:04 for 2 miles.
9:04 < 8:46
Good call...
Whatever happened to Hulst, Scharsu, and Reynolds?

Scharsu had a couple of good XC seasons. Did nothing in track. Hulst ran decent for Div II Irvine, but never came close to his HS exploits and died too young of a brain tumor. Reynolds is a mystery.
Brent Vaughn's done alright for himself when he's been healthy.
Eric Reynolds had a decent, if injury-plagued, post HS career at UCLA.
I am going to go out on a limb here and say that California might be pretty good at the 2 mile. Might be able to say the best in the country...call me crazy!
