Time trial this weekend that I want to try and run seriously, and maybe run about 72 minutes.
I think we’ll start as early as 5:30, which is nuts, I know, and there’s no way in hell I’m waking up before 4. I usually like a decent bit more time, but it is what it is. Most mornings I don’t eat before I run but this time I feel like I should, it’s a race effort or whatever. Anyhow, do you think like some oatmeal will do fine? One of the few things I trust to digest that quickly.
Couple supplemental Qs: 1. feels stupid to take an energy gel or whatever for 13.1 miles, but esp. if I have a small “breakfast” might it be worth it? 2. I’ve always been told that you should have a teensy bit of protein before race, and idk how to integrate that into such a small sliver of time. Like half a boiled egg or something? Or is stupid to even worry about it.
I know I’m entirely overthinking this and it’s ridiculous to treat not even an official race as if it’s the world championships, but I really want to prove to myself that I’m gaining some fitness back
