Does anyone know how Seb Coe's times progressed in the 800 and 1500 between, say, ages 17 and 28? I've googled it in a desultory way and not really found an easy answer.
TIA
Giles

Sorry, don't have anything for those ages, but Better Training for Distance Runners has this for ages 12 to 18:
12 y.o.
13.4, 29.2, 65.5, 2:32, 5:24 (1500m), 11:20 (3000m)
13 yo.
28.6, 63.5, 2:21, 4:32, 9:48
14 y.o.
12.2, 24.9, 56.5, 2:08, 4:18, 9:20
15 y.o.
2:00, 4:04, 8:52
16 y.o.
51.8, 1:57
18 y.o.
50.3
Nothing like what you asked for, I know, but it's some information, anyway.
Relax, Giles. He was significantly faster than Harry at all ages.
Holy crap... he was as fast at 15 as I was at 19.
Giles,
Post your email address and I can send the coe progression to you.

Shut the hell up
great. some day i hope to be able to take on the times of a four-and-a-half foot tall runt.
What struck me was how much faster Kevin Sullivan was over 800m at ages 14 and 15.

giles - i've got a copy of the 1984 iaaf yearbook that lists progressions for some notable athletes, seb coe is one of them. i'm on the road right now, but i'll be home this weekend.
bump this thread on friday night, and i'll type in what's printed there.
he was injured with a stress fracture when he was 17, at 18 he ran 1:54 and 3:45 for 1500 then a year or two later he made a huge drop down to 1:47. i nearly caught him at 16, 51.9 and 1:58 then asthma
I ran a 4:17 mile in 5th grade, just like Jippers Bronfman.

I'm the kid in my room. I am breaking my stubborn writing streak to say this; His age progression was pretty much normal. One year old, two year old etc.. He will be 50 in September.
Im still laughing. You rule!

Actually, no. If you read the title of the post, I was talking about Seb Coe.
All the best,
Giles
