Anyway, thanks for the link and putting this on my radar. Definitely seems like there’s no reason for Gidey to be in that race unless it’s a concerted WR attempt. Karissa Schweizer is on the start list as well.
Prize money for 1st is: 2000 $. So that is safe for Gidey. They will bring the wavelights.
Among the biggest challengers could be 5,000-meter debutant Edina Jebitok (Kenya) and U.S. runner Karissa Schweizer with a best of 14:26.34 minutes.
For 1500 men:
Tshepo Tsh ite (South Africa) was even slightly faster in the World Cup semifinal with 3:32.98 minutes. The 26-year-old brings a strong 800-meter best with 1:44.59 minutes and could play a good role in a track decision. Two experienced pacesetters will definitely provide a fast pace. Not excluded that some best times will fall at the late stage of the season.

Gidey definitely has to be targeting that WR. Otherwise, the M1500, MPV, W100H (Williams), W400 (Miller-Uibo) seem decent. Lyles bailed on this one, evidently.
I’m wondering how Hobbs Kessler will fare in this, given that he pretty much went quiet after USA’s. Was the Ryan Shay mile in Charlevoix the last time he’s competed?

Yes it a WR attempt as confirmed by her coach. Regardless of whether she is successful her marathon prep stats in earnest immediately after. She has also stated her desire to represent Ethiopia at the Olympic marathon in Paris. Could it be we’ve seen the last of her on the track? either way going forward she has the talent to retire in the future as the greatest road running woman in history..

Seriously? How long have you been here? People downvoted the post about Addy Wiley raising money and donating $5,000 of her own money for kids with cancer. People will downvote anything and everything. RARELY does a post not get at least one downvote here.

Man, I wonder what appearance money they pay now for the meet. With limited events on that prize money list, that is shockingly low for ISTAF which used to be of course one of the Golden Four meets. Sadly indicative of the lack of money in the sport these days - we should be happy ISTAF still exists and doesn't suffer the same fate as Helsinki, Koln, Koblenz etc - great meets of the past that died because of lack of sponsorship money :/
