I recently had a couple weeks of limited training due to a virus (not COVID, but pretty nasty).
A week beforehand, I did 5 x Mile at 5:22 average with 2 minutes slow jog rest (8:00-8:30 pace). Yesterday, after about a month of rebuilding, I did 10 x 1K at 3:19 average with 1 minute slow jog rest. Both workouts were run on flat tarmac in the same shoes, felt similarly tough and were run with some fatigue in my legs.
I'm trying to get a sense of my current fitness relative to my pre-virus shape. Which of the the 5 x Mile or 10 x 1K looks indicative of better 5k/10k fitness?
My impression is that I'm slightly fitter now but that may just be wishful thinking.
