Just one guy runs ok time and the rest are barely mediocre. Do they even pay these people?

A 19.75 is not a mediocre time, I'd like to see you run that. Sure it was a little underwhelming, but even the last place finisher, Fahnbulleh, would destroy you in a 200 metre race, so you can't call it mediocre. And a 19.52 isn't an okay time, that's a great time.
wut?

If you meant the 400m, then yes it is indeed a wasteland.
The 200m is in a golden age, particularly for women, but also for men. So much young talent, plus the second-best ever in Lyles in his prime.
Didn’t the second place guy equal Carl Lewis’ lifetime PR?
You don’t know what you’re talking about. Tebogo’s 19.81 is the third fastest world championship third place time in the 200 ever, only slightly behind the 19.80 run by Christophe Lemaitre in 2011 and Erriyon Knighton last year.

The OP is wrong, but critics don't have to be better than those they critique. We are measuring the elites by their peers (both past and present), not ourselves. You don't have to be a fine cook to know that you've had a bad meal.

that's not a long time at all. Who can't run for 19 seconds?

So hyped. I mean so hyped. Hyped beyond belief and this is all they have? The US mens 10000 team is better.
