I have been coaching for 20 years. This phenomenon started after Covid. Coaches had a year of pay when they didn't work and many got very lazy. I have one guy on my team who ran 9:12 this spring as a junior and two girls at 10:35 and 10:40 who are getting almost no interest. If you have been reading posts here over the past year, you will see many people posting simular stories. Coaches contact a few kids on theor own and then just disregard all others who initiate contact with them. I had a girl sign with a top 10 program with a nice scholarship this fall but she got no responses from dozens of worse programs, even our flagship school.

Enter your information into the schools' calculators because I have had several kids attend Ivies and pay the full fare.

How wold you know? You are a coach who only knows wht you do. And I am guessing that you are not a high level D1 coach wich is what people are referring to. As a high school coach, I can tell you that it is absolutely true and I have literally hundreds of examples from the past few years through dozens of track athletes. e of my runners is on scholarship at NAU but he didn't receive responses from a dozen lesser programs. So the best team in the country gives him a scholarship but many other programs didn't even respond but you don't believe that coaches are lazy ot incompetent. It is obvious why some programs are good and others are not. NAU. NC State, BYU, Tulsa, Wisconsin, and others, are always good becuase the coaches d their jobs. If a fast boy or girl contacts them, they respond.

Coaches are inept. Ivies cost $90K per year. You may be better off showing up at your local state school and knocking on the coach's door because the cost will be significantly less.

What exactly does that mean?

You just called me a "non-high level D! coach" and then you proceeded to say your guy didn't get a response from dozens of 'lesser' programs.

Please list your gradation of D1 coaches/programs so that we can all understand which is which... because I respond to everyone and if I am from a lesser program you are arguing against yourself.

What's obvious is that you don't understand how scholarships or any of this works... for men there are only 12.5 to give... not every coach has scholarships or space which is often limited by the AD... that's right---> many programs numbers are limited by the AD

A school being good or bad isn't only based on certain coaches doing their jobs and others not. you just don't have all of the information that you think you have.

High Level D1 coaches are those who coach a top 100 program. NAU is the top distance program in the NCAA. Every other program is lesser than NAU.

You're wasting your time. " Coaches" come on here and make up these stories all the time. It's just made up. I also respond to every email I get and I'm at a D1 program. Takes 2 seconds. I would have responded to a 10:35 athlete lol

In all honesty, your times are outside of the range the Ivies are looking for. Ivy coaches are typically targeting sub 4:15/9:15 - your 1600m time is probably pulling you down.

Which school? You won't tell us because you are not being honest. I have had kids go to schools like NC State and Wisconsin and NAU while having schools like Kansas and Rutgers and Marquette not respond to them.

Except some Ivies responded while other schools did not which shoots down your theory.
