Whenever a coach gets a new job, why is the first question "Do they have any experience training guys/girls?" (inspired by the Helen Lehman thread)? Do they need to train differently? Are there things to keep in mind with one and not the other?
I know there's been a lot of women lately coming out against coaches, mostly concerning weight stuff. Is that because coaches treat women the same as men, and that's not healthy for them? Is it because coaches assume women need to be treated differently than men, when they should be treated the same? Or neither? Both?
I think all training principles would be the same regardless of sex, which would lead me to the conclusion that men and women could be on basically the same program with no issues. Is that not right? From what I've heard of OAC, there aren't big differences in how the guys and girls train aside from pace. But if there isn't really a difference in training, why does it matter if a coach has experience with one and not the other?
