A stress fracture has me in a booted foot cast. Any suggestions for workouts would be appreciated. I belong to a gym, but swimming isn't an option. Thanks.

Hit the bike.
I was in a fracture boot for 6 weeks and kept most of my fitness that way. If you are weightbearing, use the elliptical. Just work hard like you would during an interval workout, it's the only/best way to maintain your fitness.
Thanks. (Sports) Dr. said not to use eliptical but I *can* walk on it and don't need crutches. What do you think?
More suggestions please.
Enjoy the time off. Read a few more books. Watch some more movies. When you are all healed up, you will be well rested and ready to start back into training. It seems like the stress fracture might be an indication that some time off might be a good idea.

Hmmmm.... I would say no elliptical for at least a week. Even an elliptical will be "weight bearing" on your stress-fracture so you'll have to be careful. After a week or so I personally would try it at a pretty lite resistance level. If your leg is sore after this I would hold-off for some more time.
Doctors always want to play it safe and have you stop everything. THis helps them from getting sued but you are the best judge of your own body. If it hurts....stop. If not...gradually get into the elliptical workouts. It is an awesome workout and you wont loose too much fitness if you can consistently do it.
Good luck.
since most weightbearing exercise seems to be out of the question, how about doing some handstand interval/tempo workouts. seriously, see if your gym has one of those handcrank ergometers which rehab patients use, you can probably get a semi-decent workout in with one of those, although I have no personal experience.
There's really not much that you can do when your ankle is immobilized. I think you should accept that and just chill until you get the cast off.
Plus, if you work out while wearing a cast, you will sweat and get moisture in the cast that cannot escape. This can cause serious skin problems.
when I was in a boot cast, I tried the elliptical and it hurt worse actually than just a regular run on grass. I highly reccommend the bike and not the elliptical. either way sorry about the fracture. Not a fun thing.
Hit the arm bike!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. Of course, any additional ones would be welcome.
6x2000 at 10k pace!!!!!
