Didn’t get “hard” until 6-7th rep, but it wasn’t too hard, I could have done 10 reps if I REALLY had to
16:05-16:15
Agree. Maybe a touch slower (16:20-16:30) but I'll take your word at being able to do 10 reps. At that point, it's not really a 5k workout with that kind of volume. If you had to do 6-7 x 800 on 90s, how much quicker do you think you could go? This reads to me as slightly slower than ready for a sub-16:00 attempt. I would go out in a 5k in an even 5:15 off of this & go to work from there.
Why do you need a workout to tell you what you can do in a race? Workouts are for gaining fitness, not proving fitness. The only 5k predictor workout you need is 1x5000m all out.
I just ran 16:25 last weekend feeling crummy at a 5000m track meet.
This morning I ran 5*800m at 2:33 in regular trainers with 2-min/400m jog and I didn't feel great. It certainly did not feel easy...not too sure why I've been feeling so bad the past two weeks but it's what it is and I have decided to keep grinding until things feel better...progression is not always linear. For reference I ran 3 times under 16 when I could split these closer to 2:29/2:31.
