Was just informed of the pacing info for men's 1500 in Silesia tomorrow: -3 pacers (Mounir Akbache, Erik Sowinski, Stewart McSweyn) -Wavelight in effect, looking for splits of 1:51.2 (800) and 2:18.5 (1000), then pick it up to 3:27.00 at finish https://t.co/G4Ei2FBqAl
How can you consistently be so uninformed? Really? Your "real issue" gets resolved if you just bother looking up any official information from Silesia where you can see that McSweyn was an official pacer. Glad to help you get that out of the way.
I would rather defuse inert bombs, mortar rounds and defuse inert artillery rounds than be a rabbit. Where is the pride? Rabbits get paid a low wage for all that work.

Respect? McSweyn, by pacing is saying his career is over. I can't think of anyone who went on to earn an international medal at Olympics or World Championship after pacing.
Except for Noah Ngeny who went from pacing El G’s 3:26.0 in 1998 to upsetting him in the Olympics. El Guerrouj had nearly 1200 of pacing then so everyone relax with the asterisks.
Giving respect when it is due. Big up McSweyn, what a great athlete.

It is written as if McSweyn sacrificed his race. He still has the poor start and lack of finish pace. I wrote after the previous event that he will probably fade to a pacemaker role. Still has the same choppy stride too.

So Hurta-Klecker's career is over now after pacing Kipyegon to a WR.
The top BTC runners perform pacing duties for their teammates all the time.

I disagree with his general point, but Hurta Kleckers performance at USATF after helping Kipyegon actually buttresses his case.
She is not "over", but she did underperform gravely.
Everyone praising McSweyn are basically referring to McSweyn as Robin to J I as Batman. Pacing is a weak thing to do.
Yeah but how many times has Robin helped Batman save Gotham? Not to mention he grows up to become Nightwing one of the greatest heroes in the DC universe and guardian of Bludhaven.
Before a bunch of mad people cope about it, I admit McSweyn's drop out point was at 1200m, not unusual for a paced mile, if not a paced 1500. That much is sporting enough under current standards.
The real issue here is, did the other runners know about it. They saw 2 rabbits, saw Sowinski quit at 900m, probably figured it would slow down after that.

No, and sorry to spoil your be-a-jerk op, but any race director who puts 3 pacers in a 1500 looks like a shmuck.
Who ever heard of that? Be honest. Okay, you won't, but at least try not to be a jerk. The internet laughs at your jerk skills.

results don't say McStewart was a pacer, jerk
Jakob only had to run by himself for 42 seconds. You rarely see pacers last that long.
My initial reaction was that McSweyn was going for broke, which I respected. That did a full 180 when he stopped.
It may be legal, but is definitely unsporting. The entire game changes if fellow top elites start towing time trial attempts all the way to 1300m.
I expect a torrent of cope, but it will stay true. There's an * on this one. There should be a 800m max pacesetting limit. At worst 1000m.
Also I don't know if McSweyn was officially a pacesetter, but if not, that's unsporting too. Tim may have seen Jakob go with a normally crazy pace, and gambled that McSweyn would have to dial it back, forcing Jakob to lead the 3rd lap.
So you get to decide how long the pacemaker can lead the main runner? You decide how long is ok?
Helping Jakob run one fast time doesn’t make McSweyn his bag boy. McSweyn is on the come back from the impact of lengthy long covid symptoms and just starting to find some good form again. More than anything it’s a sign of some nice camaraderie as he finds his feet again.

Do you ever just stop for a second and think about what you write? How absolutely ridicilous the things you say are? El Guerrouj had a pacemaker for 1150m when he ran his record, same as what McSweyn gave Jakob. El Guerrouj had Ngeny who is certainly is one of the most elite pacemaker you could have. And unsporting? Everyone knew McSweyn was a pacemaker.
Everything you write is wrong, take a minute and just admit it for once instead of just jumping on the next stupid point that is certain to become dicredited. Its such a juvenile debate tactic.

They get paid money. They get to be on TV.
Meanwhile, you have to pay to run a race. And you get a 10 second clip of a stroller mom sprinting past you at the finish.
If you had any pride, you wouldn't be so embarrassingly stupid.
