I don’t understand why Chep, despite having 2 more world records and having the same number of world bests and having 2 more medals than Ing, gets significantly less hype than Jakob. He’s an all time great. Jakob may get there, but he’s definitely not there yet.

Chep has fizzled more times than not when it counts. He is not the heir to Bekele we wanted and doesnt stand out in the multi polar 5k world of today. That said, his 12:41 shows hes on the right track again
The kid is incredible. At the BOTTOM of is 1500m-5000m range and he goes 3:27.14? Unreal. Not even his best event (obviously a 3k/2miler after 7:54.10). Next year, my guess is that he lowers his 2k to 4:45pt and his 5k to 12:40pt.

Well considering Jakob destroyed Cheptegei the last two times they raced, it’s not hard to see why, plus Jakob is still only 22 while Cheptegei is 26. Jakob has plenty of time to surpass the accomplishments Cheptegei has made.
