About 90% of people in the world don’t need any math beyond arithmetic, statistics, and maybe some very basic algebra. Only computer people or nerds or engineers need any more math than that. Stats to me should be more emphasized, but yes I can see for the vast majority of kids advanced math is not all that useful and could be replaced with something else.

Trigonometry is extremely practical. The only people who complain about 'math being hard' or 'math not being used' are people who were bad at it (dummies). I agree that there are practical subjects which need time in the curriculum as well. Shop class, personal finance, etc but there's only so much time in the day.

This is true. Also the basis of the original post is incorrect. Most schools require probably a max of 3 math credits which would usually be alg, geo, and alg 2. Trig/precalc/Calc are advanced classes and the only kids that take them are the ones that are on advanced tracks.

Can't do or understand stats without integral calculus and can't do integral calculus with differential calculus. Unfortunately, most of probability and statistics are applied calculus. Otherwise you're just plugging in numbers without any idea of what is really going on.

You’re absolutely right, all I did in school was plug and chug like a damned monkey. I was in way over my head after I left basic algebra. I have no idea how I even passed the first semester of calculus at university. I would have to learn the equations, and the steps by myself, because the teacher was just gibberish.
Anyway, I am happy to report that my job today requires almost no math at all, except counting my money every payday.

As someone who recently got a 5 on my ap calc bc test I would agree that it is not necessary, but I do think physics is and part of physics is calculus.
For example I heard a police officer claim someone had to be speeding becuse they hae to go 10 over to catch them. Well of course you did.
