USATF vs USTFCCCA (Level 1 Coaching)

I would say whichever one help you meet more people… sure you will learn some stuff but networking is the important part of coaching. Definitely don’t bother just doing an online cert!

But if you need a Level 1 certificate which class is better?

I recommend going to as many coaching conferences and clinics as possible.

Read books, texts, articles, interviews, track, running, team building, winning, different sports, athletes, coaches.

Learn different training methods, techniques, events. Become well rounded in the art and science of coaching.

Do this and you'll be coaching winning teams before you know it. Then we'll be singing your praises on here.

Are you asking which level 1 will teach you more? Their both very basic. As the previous poster pointed out go whichever might be better for you for networking.

I have level 2 certifications from both (they too were similar) and have gravitated toward USTFCCCA for additional education. I have no idea what USAT&F offers anymore.

Since these classes are online networking will be minimal. I have just local coaches pushing me to USTFCCCA for some reason.

USATF Junior Champs in Eugene is denying me a coaches band because I don't have level one certification. It's about time I took the class. Thanks

Yea i think USATF is better only because they are the governing body-seemed more official. What i dont know is if the School system accepts only one or the other. The level 1 for usatf is just a summary of the book.

Was wondering about this: does the coach band give you anything other than free admission?

Also, FWIW, I’m a distance coach and just did the USATF Level 1 zoom course. I found the presenters engaging and helpful, but not the endurance/distance guy. He was getting things wrong and was just reading off the slides. I’m probably too harsh a judge on that topic though given my own knowledge about it.

At some meets the band gets you access to some athlete areas for warm ups. Not sure about Hayward.

Thanks. That wasn’t true for Region 13 or Nationals last year but I’m hoping they’ll let us for nationals this year. That Hayward area can be a maze for kids

Region 13 at Mt Tahoma limited where we could go. But I am $15 dollars down on entry fees... Not that I care.
