After 8 months out I've just done 4 weeks at 18, 30, 30, 30 miles jogging 8:30-9 min/miles. This morning did 4 miles at 6:40 around the block as some sort of tempo effort.. Last autumn I was running 17:50-18 for 5k and my tempos were 5 miles at 6:30... so this isn't too bad but I can tell I have lost a lot of fitness.
Instead of focusing on miles should I try doing lots of tempos? Or stick with lots of hilly moderately-long runs (this is what I usually do).
